• Civic Square was buzzing with energy as the Little Food Festival served up two vibrant days of excitement, flavour, fun and discovery in the heart of Launnie! 🐝
Little foodies and their families planted, cooked, danced, tasted and created their way through the wonderful world of food, discovering where it comes from, how it fuels us and how it reaches our plates.
As a UNESCO City of Gastronomy, Launceston was the perfect setting for this adventure, celebrating our region’s connection to food while inspiring the next generation of curious eaters, growers, makers and thinkers. 🌱
The event was brought to life by the incredible people and organisations who shared their expertise, led activities on and off stage, volunteered their time and donated fresh food and produce.
A big thank you to our event partners, the University of Tasmania, Tasmanian Institute of Agriculture, and our official Move Partner, the Hobart Hurricanes, for helping to bring this free event to Launnie! 🍎

  • Day two of the free Little Food Festival is in full swing as little explorers taste, play and learn their way through the journey of food!
🥪 In the Eat Zone, little foodies are learning how good food gives them energy and brings people together. They’re tasting nutritious school lunches with School Food Matters and Loaves and Fishes Tasmania, and discovering how to build balanced meals with the Hawthorn Football Club.
♻️ In the Recycle Zone, curious kids are exploring what happens their a meal. They’re meeting worms, tiny soil critters and micro-organisms that bring soil to life with UTAS Sustainability and Community Gardens Australia. They are also following milk from the farm to their cup through The Udder Way’s keg maze and milk on tap station.
Beyond the food journey zones, there’s even more to explore:
📚 Kids are relaxing and recharging at the Little Food Library, with books to spark their curiosity about food and nature.
💭 In the Reflection Zone, kids are reflecting on what they’ve discovered and learning how to continue their foodie journey after the festival.
🎨 They are also unleashing their creativity with artist, Bianca Jagoe, exploring what grows in each season and contributing to the festival mural.
Join the fun in Civic Square today!

  • 🚐 Cruisin' Motorhomes - The best motorhome company in Tasmania!
Offer: 5% discount on all motorhome rentals
    Code: LAPOFTAS
Cruisin Motorhomes are such a fantastic Tasmanian success story, starting from humble beginnings here in Hobart before branching out across Australia with their fantastic range of motorhomes 💪🤩
There are plenty of different models to suit your budget and style of travel – so it doesn’t matter whether you are travelling as a solo, couple, or as a family of up to 6 people, they’ll definitely have an option with your name on it.
🪶 Couples or Solos – The 2-berth ‘Sandpiper‘ is an absolute dream. Like the perfect game of Tetris, I will never know how they fit so many nifty features into such a compact motorhome, including the convenience of both a toilet and shower.
👨‍👩‍👧 Families or couples seeking more space – They have a few 4-berth motorhome options, and my fave is their ‘Adventurer‘ motorhome. It isn’t their most luxurious option (that would be the ‘Deluxe‘) but it does represent the ideal balance of price, functionality and comfort – very important for families.
💎 Anybody who wants to travel in style – You simply can’t go wrong with their 4 or 6-berth ‘Deluxe‘ motorhomes. The quality of the fitout is incredible, and I can’t see how you could possibly find a more comfortable way of exploring Tasmania.
They provide a huge range of standard inclusions, and also a number of optional extras you can include when making your booking. A couple worth drawing your attention to include their 24/7 roadside assistance service and the very handy ability to nominate up to 3 other drivers. I also find the young age of their fleet to be reassuring, with all vehicles being less than 4yrs and their Deluxe range all younger than 2.5yrs.
You can see why I’ve got Cruisin Motorhomes at the top of my list 🏅😊
Cruisin Motorhomes are also a big supporter of the Lap of Tasmania community, providing Lappers with a generous 5% discount on the rental rates of all their motorhomes.
All you need to do is use the LAPOFTAS code when booking online, or mention the Lap of Tasmania over the phone 😍
    Happy travels!
    Andrew.

  • 🎉💚🤝 Congratulations to one of Tasmania Police's trusted community partners - Neighbourhood Watch Tasmania Inc - which is turning 40!
Starting with the first ‘Watch’ at Risdon Vale in 1986, the community-led crime prevention organisation has now grown to more than 50 groups across the state, and it remains as relevant today as it was 40 years ago.
President and State Co-ordinator, Peter Edwards, said Neighbourhood Watch Tasmania Inc exists to help communities help themselves. “We can't expect the police to be everywhere, so we ask what can we do that can make a difference - collectively and individually? We can't help everyone, but everyone can help someone.”
Neighbourhood Watch aims to improve the quality of life for all Tasmanians, by helping to minimise preventable crime and promote good community relationships - particularly with the police.
👏 Well done to the members of Neighbourhood Watch Tasmania Inc - you're continuing to help build stronger and safer communities. Thank you!
